Dear Resident,
Re: Public meeting to discuss the speeding problems on Doyle Avenue and Kipling Road
Further to my last letter about the speeding problems on Doyle Avenue and Kipling Road, I am please to invite you to a public meeting on Wednesday 26th September at 7pm in the main hall of Northern Parade Infant School.
I have asked Councillor Jason Fazackarley, the councillor in charge of traffic and transportation to join us and he has accepted. I have also invited a representative from the Council’s engineers department to answer any technical questions.
My colleagues, Councillors Frank Jonas and Donna Jones also hope to attend, as does our MP Penny Mordaunt who has been very supportive of my efforts to find a solution to these problems.
For ease of reference, I have included the worrying results of the speed survey that was conducted earlier this year, so that you and your neighbour have the facts necessary to challenge the official from the Council.
The average speed of vehicles on Kipling Road was close to the 20mph speed limit, averaging 21mph, but there were 466 vehicles which travelled along the road at between 30-39mph and 3 vehicles which exceeded 40mph. Doyle Avenue was even worse, with the average speed being 26mph eastbound and 27mph westbound. Hidden within these figures were 1,680 vehicles travelling between 30-30mph, 36 between 40-49mph and astonishingly 3 vehicles exceeding 50mph.
Apologies for not having been able to send this letter to you earlier this month, as I had intended, but I was waiting on confirmation of the hall’s availability, confirmation of the attendees and I took a short break, following the birth of my second child.
I hope that you will be able to join me at the meeting, but if for whatever reason you are unable to attend, please feel free to send me any question that you would like raised.
Yours sincerely,
